Don Wagner will Protect
your vote.
It should be easy to cast a vote and hard to buy a vote. Don Wagner believes our election integrity systems must be above suspicion. That is why his Fair Elections Ballot Committee is fighting for six reforms to make California’s elections the most nonpartisan and most trusted in the country:
- A nonpartisan Secretary of State
- Open primaries for every voter
- Voter ID, with a free ID for anyone who needs one
- Accurate, up-to-date voter rolls
- A secure chain of custody for every ballot
- Timely, trustworthy election results

Don Wagner’s Ballot Committee Answers to Voters
Six reforms to protect every Californian’s vote.
Some are before voters at the ballot box. Some are before the legislature. We pursue them wherever the fight is. Together they make California’s elections easy to vote in, and impossible to buy.
Nonpartisan Secretary of State
A Secretary of State should be an umpire, not a team player. The official who runs California’s elections should answer to every voter, not a political party. California’s Superintendent of Public Instruction is already nonpartisan. The official who runs our elections should be too. Independent of party. Accountable to voters.
Every Voter Has a Voice
Primary elections are paid for by the taxpayers. Every voter should have a say, no matter their party, so the candidates who advance are decided by all of us. Don Wagner’s Fair Elections Ballot Committee is defending the open primary so no voter is locked out of the elections they pay for. More voices in, better choices out.
Voter Integrity
Unlike the SAVE Act in Washington, which could require proof-of-citizenship documents many voters do not have on hand, California’s Voter ID initiative is simple, fair, and gives every voter a free ID. It confirms that the person casting your ballot is you, so every Californian can have confidence their vote counts.
Accurate Voter Rolls
Trustworthy elections start with accurate records. When people move, pass away, or re-register, the rolls should keep up. Keeping them current and accurate protects every valid vote and keeps ineligible ballots out of the count. Accurate rolls, accurate results.
A Ballot You Can Trust
Your ballot should travel a clear, secure path from your hands to the count. We support a verifiable chain of custody for every ballot, with real accountability for anyone who handles it, so no one can tamper with your vote along the way. A vote is only as good as the chain that protects it.
Timely, Trustworthy Results
Californians deserve to know the outcome without waiting weeks. A clear, predictable timeline means votes are counted on schedule and results are settled quickly, so confidence is not lost to delay. Count the votes, call the race.
Your vote is your voice. Our elections should answer to you.
